Riber has announced that QD Laser, a Japanese specialist in quantum dot lasers, has placed an order for an MBE 6000 production system. The equipment will be optimized for the epitaxial growth of GaAs quantum dots intended for optical Datacom applications—a market driven by the explosion in data volumes and the rise of AI in networks. Riber points out that this is its third MBE 6000 project related to the production of quantum dot epiwafers for Datacom within a month, confirming the commercial momentum of this platform in the segment.
Riber specializes in the design, manufacturing, and marketing of molecular jet epitaxy systems (MBE), evaporation sources, and cells for the component semiconductor industry. These high-tech materials are essential for producing composite semi-conductor materials and new materials used in many general public applications, including new information technologies, OLED flat screens, and new generations of solar cells. Net sales break down by family of products as follows:
- MBE systems (76.6%);
- components and services (23.4%).
Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: Europe (44.4%), Asia (40.4%) and North America (15.2%).
