Soitec shares are rising sharply on the stockmarket, with gains that have continued to swell since the start of the day, reaching 15% by mid-afternoon. According to a hypothesis mentioned by Bloomberg, the sudden interest in the stock could be linked to a post on the social network X from an account followed by over 100,000 subscribers. The author, known by the pseudonym @aleabiotraderdit, claims to have taken a "large position" in the stock, a message that has exceeded 60,000 views.

The potential influence of this account is notably due to a high-profile precedent: in February, it detailed an investment thesis on Raspberry Pi shortly before a surge in the stock. Shares of the British computer manufacturer then rose by over 70% between February 4 and 24, although much of those gains have since been erased. The same account has also been very positive on the British semiconductor manufacturer IQE, whose stock has shown a spectacular increase of more than 300% since the beginning of the year.

In the post dedicated to Soitec, the author puts forward several arguments. He believes that the group could benefit from the development of CPO (co-packaged optics), a photonic architecture designed to accompany the rise of artificial intelligence and data centers. According to him, Soitec would have a quasi-monopolistic position on certain SOI substrates used in this technology, an advantage that could become strategic if photonics is adopted on a large scale. The investor also mentions a valuation level that he considers low and believes that the market could begin to position itself ahead of a promising cycle for photonics by 2027.
