Since October 2021, Maikel Pellens is a senior researcher at the Expertise Centre for Research and Development Monitoring (ECOOM) at KU Leuven.
His research interests lie in the economics of innovation and science, using microeconometric methods to answer policy-relevant questions.
His research topics concern the evaluation of innovation and science policy, industry-science knowledge transfer, and knowledge-based entrepreneurship.
From 2019 to 2021, he was a visiting professor of entrepreneurship at Ghent University, Belgium.
