Resolute Capital Management employs the single investment strategy of concentrated large growth. The firm seeks to identify diverse companies with superior operating and financial characteristics that can generate long-term excess returns with below-market risk. They place emphasis on companies which are likely to generate positive future: (1) returns on capital (2) stability of profits (3) improvement of core business metrics (4) sustainable competitive advantages and (5) sustainable growth of earnings and free cash flow. In general, the firm tends to invest in the stocks of US and European large-cap companies in the health technology, consumer non-durables and electronic technology sectors. Resolute maintains a low turnover rate. The firm's model portfolio is the basis for all portfolio construction and typically comprises 30 stocks or less. The portfolio is index-independent and does not employ market timing. Resolute seeks to control risk through investments in companies with profits that have low correlation to the profits of other companies in the portfolio. The portfolio adheres to maximum position and sector size limitations to ensure appropriate diversification. Resolute builds a concentrated portfolio with the objective of generating net-of-fee returns greater than the Russell 1000 Growth and the S&P 500 indices with lower volatility. Resolute's research focus is bottom-up, although top-down economic and thematic components are also considered. The firm's research efforts are organized through an Investment Committee that is composed of the firm's investment professionals, and proprietary analytical stages that include a Prospect List, a Focus List and a Model Portfolio. The Prospect List contains approximately 100 companies. The Focus List is made up of 50 companies and the Model Portfolio is 30 companies or less. Resolute dynamically models and values all Focus List companies using several valuation techniques. The majority of their analysis focuses on the consideration of forecast inputs. Scenario analysis of future outcomes is also important, including downside evaluation.
