Europe hovers around break-even
European equity markets are trading very close to flat, supported by slight signs of easing in the Middle East. After posting a double all-time record the day before (8,669.69 points intraday and 8,666.63 points at the close), the CAC 40 hit a fresh record high at 8,694 points a few minutes after the open. Around noon, Paris's benchmark index is down 0.06% at 8,661.33 points, but could notch a fifth straight session of gains. The DAX also set an intraday record at 26,403.81 points. It is now up 0.03% at 26,209.69 points.

Cyprus: TotalEnergies approves the Cronos gas project targeting the European market
TotalEnergies (50%) and Eni (50%, operator), partners in offshore Cyprus Block 6, have taken the final investment decision (FID) to develop the Cronos gas field, discovered in 2022 and successfully appraised in 2024. Located in deep water about 185 kilometers southwest of the Cypriot coast, Cronos will be developed using four subsea wells. The gas will be transported by subsea pipeline from Cypriot waters to Egypt, where it will be liquefied at the Damietta LNG terminal before being exported to Europe.

Air Liquide expects a slight acceleration in growth in the second half
Air Liquide's revenue came to 13.82bn in the first half of 2026, up 4.3% excluding currency and energy effects, including the acquisition of DIG Airgas. On a comparable basis, sales rose 2.6% year over year. Growth picked up in the second quarter to 5.2% excluding currency and energy effects, and to 3.5% on a comparable basis. The group's reported sales rose 0.8% in the first half of 2026. They benefited from favorable energy effects (+0.1%) and a significant scope effect (+1.7%), partly offset by a negative currency effect of 3.6%.

Baker Hughes: strong operating profitability and sharply higher cash flow in the second quarter
Baker Hughes shares (+6.71% at $61.09) are posting one of the Nasdaq's biggest gains this Monday, a day after the company reported second-quarter 2026 results that comfortably beat Wall Street expectations. The performance was driven by tight operational discipline and a strong cash position. Revenue for the period came in at $6.74bn. While that marks a 2% year-over-year decline, it topped the analyst consensus of $6.51bn.
