Duke Energy Progress, Inc. (Duke Energy Progress) is a regulated public utility. The Company is engaged in the generation, transmission, distribution and sale of electricity in portions of North Carolina and South Carolina. Duke Energy Progress' service area covers approximately 32,000 square miles, and supplies electric service to approximately 1.5 million residential, commercial and industrial customers. Duke Energy Progress owns and operates Roxboro Station Units 1-3 and owns 87.06% of, and operates, Unit 4. Duke Energy Progress is a subsidiary of Duke Energy Corporation (Duke Energy), which is an energy company. Progress Energy conducts operations through its wholly owned subsidiaries, Duke Energy Progress and Duke Energy Florida, Inc. (Duke Energy Florida). Duke Energy Progress and Duke Energy Florida have purchased power contracts, including renewable energy contracts, with other utilities, wholesale marketers, co-generators and qualified facilities.
