FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) - German government bond prices edged lower on Friday. The benchmark Euro Bund Future fell 0.12 percent to 122.18 points in morning trading. The previous day, it had risen sharply amid weakness in stock markets and uncertainty surrounding France. The yield on the 10-year German Bund stood at 3.34 percent.
At the end of the week, purchasing managers' indexes will be among the main focuses during the morning. Data from France, Germany and the eurozone are due to be released. Sentiment data from the US will follow in the afternoon.
"French figures could attract more attention than usual. Unrest in financial markets over debt developments remains high, and protests in the cities have not helped brighten the outlook," analysts at Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen (Helaba) wrote in their morning commentary.
Meanwhile, stock market investors are questioning whether the billions invested in the AI boom will pay off anytime soon. According to Commerzbank, renewed tensions in the Middle East are adding to the concerns. Unlike recently, investors were now seeking refuge in US government bonds, causing their yields to fall despite rising oil prices. "This shift suggests that, in the bond market, concerns about the growth outlook outweighed inflation fears overnight," Commerzbank analysts wrote./jha/stk
