Vincent Clerc was born in 1972. A Swiss citizen, he holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Lausanne and MBAs from Columbia Business School (New York) and London Business School.

He joined Maersk in 1998, immediately after completing his studies. He then held various positions within the group, including in Copenhagen and North America.

In December 2015, Vincent Clerc was appointed Chief Commercial Officer of Maersk line. He subsequently took on the role of Director of Ocean & Logistics, the company's main division (container ship business). He was then appointed Managing Director of Maersk as of January 1, 2023.
