Founder and CEO of the low-cost airline company EasyJet, Stelios Haji-Ioannou, is at head of an empire called EasyGroup, which operates in various areas of low cost, such as insurance (EasyMoney), car rental (EasyCar), price comparators (EasyValue) and even pizzas with EasyPizza.
Graduated in 1987 from London School of Economics, Stelios studied finance at City University of London until 1988, when he joined Troodos, the shipping company founded and managed by his father. In 1992, he decided to found his own shipping company, called Stelmar.
The company worked well but Stelios, “serial entrepreneur” as he likes to name himself, decides to have a new challenge. Convinced that the future is in the low cost concept, in 1995 he launched his airline company Easyjet.
In some years Stelios has become the guru of low cost, with a fortune of £1.29 billion.
