Michael Apkon

I have an MBA, MD, PhD and am the President of Sand Street Advisors and a Venture Partner for Continuum Health Ventures, As a physician executive and physician scientist serving in C-level leadership roles at several top academic hospitals in the United States and Canada I have had a unique perspective on both the US system and the Canadian single payer system.
I most recently served as the CEO at Tufts Medical Center in Boston and prior to was the President and CEO at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto.
I have also held senior executive and academic roles at top academic health science centers.
I served as a Director for healthcare companies from early stage through exit to the public markets and acquisition including 7D Surgical and MindBeacon.
Currently I am an advisor or director for several companies including: FirstDay Healthcare, Refactor Health, Homecare Hub, Transcend, and Guardian Lane.
I have a BSc degree in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University as well as MD and PhD degrees from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and an MBA from the Yale School of Management where I taught healthcare management.
