Mr. Makoto Sumino, CFA MBA, is a Managing Director & Senior Portfolio Manager at SSgA Funds Management, Inc. He is also co-Portfolio Manager for the International Equity strategy.

Mr. Sumino joined SSGA in July 2016 through its acquisition of GE Asset Management (GEAM).
Prior to assuming his current role, he was Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager at GEAM managing the ACWIx portfolio.
During his 20-year career at GEAM, Mr. Sumino also served as the Director of Research – Public Equities and Japan Equities portfolio manager, as well as a Portfolio Manager for our International Equity strategy and had research responsibilities for technology hardware & equipment.
He has been in the investment industry since 1988.
Prior to joining GEAM in 1996, he worked as an equity analyst at Kankaku Securities in Tokyo, currently known as Mizuho Securities.
Mr. Sumino has a BS from Kansai University of Foreign Studies and an MBA from the University of Chicago with concentration in Finance and Portfolio Theory.
He is a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and a member of the Stamford Society of Security Analysts.
