Beatty is a Portfolio Manager at Massachusetts Financial Services Co. In his role, he partners with the firm's other regional co-CIOs in the research management process and strategy discussions, including by developing investment policies and programs that achieve the investment objectives of MFS and its clients.
He joined the firm in 2002 as an equity research analyst and was named portfolio manager in 2004.
He served as the director of equity for North America from 2011 to 2014 and as director of US research from 2007 through 2019.
He became chief investment officer of global equity in 2015.
During his five years as global equity CIO, he worked to further enhance the firm's equity platform, including by developing a broader leadership team across the Americas, Europe and Asia.
In 2020, he took on a more focused role as co-CIO of the Americas while continuing to carry out his portfolio management duties.
He has over 37 years of industry experience.
Prior to joining the firm, he was an equity analyst and sector head for State Street Research Management Co. and an investment research analyst for Fleet Investment Advisors.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Bonaventure University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Babson College.
