Dr. Joel M.
Dickson is a Global Head of Advised Strategies at The Vanguard Group, Inc. He oversees all investment methodology development for Vanguard’s advice programs, including Vanguard Personal Advisor Services and Vanguard Digital Advisor.
Among his areas of expertise are investment strategy, portfolio construction, tax efficiency, portfolio management, exchange-traded funds (ETF), and alternative investments.
Before joining Vanguard, Dr. Dickson worked as a staff economist at the Federal Reserve Board.
He has testified before U.S.
congressional committees on Social Security reform and mutual fund disclosure issues, and he is often quoted in the news media on tax-efficient investing, retirement savings strategies, and ETF industry and product issues.
He earned an A.B. from Washington University in St. Louis and a Ph.D.
in economics from Stanford University.
