Bernard Joei

Mr. Bernard Joei is Chief Executive Officer at Zurich Alternative Asset Management LLC.
Prior to joining Zurich in 2010, Mr. Joei was Chief Investment Officer at Horizon21 Wealth Management, Chief Investment Officer at Horizon21 Alternative Investments, and Chief Investment Officer at Horizon21 Private Equity.
Mr. Joei joined Horizon21 in September 2008.
He has extensive experience in investment banking and investment management.
He began his career in 1979 at Kidder, Peabody & Co. in New York, United States, first in convertible securities and later in equity derivatives, where he was elected Principal and Senior Vice President.
In 1988 he joined Swiss Bank Corporation Investment Banking (now UBS) in New York, United States, as Managing Director and Member of the Management Committee, co-heading US equity research, sales and trading.
In 1992, he founded Cathay Financial, an independent research firm and institutional broker-dealer to the hedge fund community, focusing on special situations including spin-offs, restructuring and merger arbitrage.
Eight years later, he became founder and Managing Director of Benten Capital, an event-driven single hedge fund based in New York, United States.
Mr. Joei holds both a BA and an MBA from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, United States.
He is Vice Chairman of the Committee of 100, a national, nonpartisan organization dedicated to encouraging stronger relations between the US and Greater China.
Mr. Joei was previously employed as Chief Investment Officer by Horizon21 and President by Cathay Financial Corp.
