Siemens announced on January 14, 2014 that it has received an order for the turnkey construction of a 600 megawatt (MW) natural gas-fired combined cycle power plant in Turkey for local energy firm Enerjisa. The construction of the Bandirma II plant on the southern coast of the Sea of Marmara in the province of Balikesir will be completed in 2016. Siemens will supply and install the gas turbine, steam turbine, water cooled generator, the entire electrical system, high-voltage switchgear installation, instrumentation and control system, recovery steam generator and the auxiliary systems. The deal includes also a long-term service contract for the main components.

Bandirma II will be the second power plant in Turkey to be powered by Siemens' SGT5-8000H gas turbine, after the Samsun project which is currently under construction.
