Orange announced the official launch of FTTH commercial offers over Brittany's public-initiative broadband network, a RIP ('Reseaux d'Initiative Publique') unveiled in February 2016 under the 'Megalis Bretagne' public-private partnership. Orange said that nearly 15,000 premises in Brittany are already covered by FTTH services as part of the open-access network project, in which the operator participates via its dedicated subsidiary 'THD Bretagne'. Alongside its involvement in the RIP, Orange is also investing in the region as part of its commercial network deployment, committing to cover 790,000 premises with FTTH services in the more populated areas of Brittany, falling outside the public-initiative network.
