The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to the interconnection between the Internet and communicating objects, places and physical environments with a unique digital identity. Its infrastructures enable a bridge between the virtual world and physical objects through information and communication technologies.

The IoT (for "Internet of Things") is progressively built halfway between the physical web, the social web (seen as a space of socialization) and the semantic web (whose data are structured and easily interpretable by machines). The communication between our physical goods and their digital existences allows to generate new information. Connected objects produce large amounts of data whose storage and processing are part of what is known as Big Data. Interoperability, which consists in modifying the behavior of an object according to that of other objects, is one of the main characteristics of the Internet of Things. Data then passes through communication channels (Wifi, Bluetooth, RFID chip, fiber optics, 5G, etc.) to send instructions to connected objects. These can be everyday objects that are ubiquitous in our homes (television, washing machine, refrigerator, electric garage door, heating system, etc.), or more complex devices or systems such as vehicles (autonomous cars, airplanes) or even entire cities by allowing the management of lighting, wastewater and road traffic. Applications are possible in many fields to improve the efficiency, quality, safety and speed of solutions. A farmer in Michigan can now know the humidity level in his corn field in real time from his smartphone without even getting out of bed, while at the same time a bus driver in Paris sees the light in his lane turn green by simply detecting his vehicle. Virtually all domestic and industrial uses are concerned. In logistics, it can be sensors used to track goods for inventory management. In home automation, household appliances, sensors, smart meters and communicating security systems exchange information to trigger their owners' decisions. The machine is then at the service of mankind to offer them more comfort in life and productivity. We believe that this technological evolution is still in its infancy. That's why we've created this list of listed companies that stand to benefit from the widespread adoption of the Internet of Things. We find companies involved in 5G telecom and fiber optic infrastructure, semiconductor and sensor manufacturing, integrated solutions for smart homes and cars, and industrial internet applications.
