BMW Group announced on Tuesday that its sales had reached a new all-time high of 2,555,341 units in 2023, representing growth of 6.5%.

The Bavarian carmaker says it has benefited from the dynamism of the European market, where its sales rose by 7.5%, and particularly from the commercial strength of Germany (+11.7%).

With regard to its range, the Group highlights the solid sales of its vehicles positioned in the most premium segment, such as the 7 Series and the X7 SUV.

Sales of the BMW brand alone rose by 7.3% to 2,253,835 units last year, making it the world leader in the luxury car market.

"Record sales for 2023 show the desirability of our strong brands," commented Jochen Goller, the new Sales Director, who succeeded Pieter Nota last September.

In its press release, BMW Group also said it had achieved its 'ambitious' growth targets for electromobility.

At 330.596 units, sales of electric models grew significantly (+92.2%), and now account for just under 15% of the Group's total sales.

BMW shares lost 0.4% in early trading on Tuesday on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, while the European automotive sector index fell by 0.2% at the same time.
