Studiocanal, a subsidiary of Vivendi via Canal+ Group, announces that it has signed an exclusive agreement with Editions Albert René to develop the sixth live-action film of the adventures of Asterix.
"With 400 million albums of the adventures of Asterix sold in 130 languages and dialects, Asterix is by far the most successful comic strip in the world", it points out, adding that the five live-action films "have delighted tens of millions of viewers".
Studiocanal adds that it has 'repeatedly demonstrated its expertise in literary adaptations for films and series', and has already distributed several Asterix films internationally, both live-action and animated.
