Uber Technologies has struck a new multi-year partnership with Waymo, Alphabet's self-driving car unit, and plans to roll out an integrated launch later this year, the companies said.

The companies said Uber riders in Phoenix, Ariz., will be able to call Waymo vehicles later this year. Uber Eats customers in the area will also be able to use Waymo.

"Fully autonomous driving is quickly becoming part of everyday life, and we're excited to bring Waymo's incredible technology to the Uber platform," Uber Chief Executive Dara Khosrowshahi said.

Shares of Uber rose more than 1% in premarket trading Tuesday.
