Thales Alenia Space has signed a contract with Appworks to supply Thailand with the MEOLUT Next solution for locating distress signals.
This solution will instantly detect and locate any distress signal emitted by a COSPAS-SARSAT beacon on land, at sea and in the air, within a radius of 2,500 km of Bangkok, mainly via the Galileo satellite positioning system.
The contract also includes the delivery of a Mission Control Centre (MCC) dedicated to the management and dissemination of alerts, and a Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC) which will coordinate search and rescue operations with the armed forces, coastguards, lifeguards at sea, etc.
' This is the first contract for the deployment of the MEOLUT Next solution in Asia, which will now be in service on four continents: America, Europe, Africa and Asia. Saving lives is an integral part of our company's aspirations, as demonstrated by our participation in the search and rescue services of the COSPAS-SARSAT network', said Benoît Broudy, Vice President of the Navigation business at Thales Alenia Space in France.
