(Alliance News) - Terna Spa announced Tuesday that the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security has started the authorization process for the project to rationalize the high-voltage power grid in the West Brianza area, for which the company will invest a total of more than EUR100 million.

The reorganization, which will affect the municipalities of Seveso, Barlassina, Cesano Maderno, Cogliate, and Ceriano Laghetto in the province of Monza Brianza, will increase the efficiency of the area's electricity transmission service and, thanks to the improved meshing of the local grid, ensure greater continuity and safety of operation.

The company led by Stefano Donnarumma will build about 13 km of new underground cable lines, against the demolition of 7.3 km of overhead power lines now located mainly in densely urbanized areas of the municipalities of Seveso and Cesano Maderno. The plan for new works will remove 18 supports and free up about 30 hectares of land. In addition, Terna will build two new power stations in the municipalities of Barlassina and Cesano Maderno: in particular, these plants will be integrated into the landscape, protecting the surrounding area, thanks to environmental mitigation with green works.

Terna's stock is down 0.7 percent at EUR7.25 per share.
