(Alliance News) - A new historical record for Terna Spa, which in 2022 saw the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security and regional departments authorize 29 interventions, worth a total of more than EUR2.5 billion in investments, aimed at the development of the national electricity grid.

After surpassing EUR1 billion in authorized investments in 2021 for the first time in history, in 2022, the company led by Stefano Donnarumma recorded a new record, more than doubling the previous year's figure and substantially tenfold the value of 2020, when investments amounted to EUR266 million.

The most important contribution to the achievement comes from the green light for the East Branch of the Tyrrhenian Link, the section of the undersea power line that will connect Campania and Sicily worth more than EUR1.9 billion.

"The performance confirms Terna's key role as an enabler of the energy transition. The new infrastructure works will increase the resilience and security of the national electricity grid, while fostering the integration of energy produced from renewable sources. The company's sustainable investments create value for the country system, generating a positive impact on GDP with a multiplier effect on the resources invested, creating hundreds of jobs, and contributing to making Italy increasingly central to the European electricity system," the company speiged.

Terna's stock is up 0.8 percent at EUR7.36 per share.
