Telenor ASA’s Nomination Committee has put forward a proposal that Jacob Aqraou and Siri Beate Hatlen are elected as new members of the board of directors of Telenor ASA. The proposed candidates will succeed Frank Dangeard and Marit Vaagen, who have requested to be relieved from the Board of Directors. In addition Burckhard Bergmann has asked to be relieved of his duty as Director. The Nomination Committee is considering proposing the election of a new Director to replace Burckhard Bergman. Mr. Aqraou had a long career at eBay including positions as Senior Vice President of Europe Middle East and Africa, and General Manager eBay Classifieds Group. Ms. Hatlen has a background from various management positions within private and public sector in Norway, including Executive Vice President of Statkraft and Chief Executive Officer of Oslo University Hospital. Burckhard Bergmann (73), Frank Dangeard (58) and Marit Vaagen (48) have served on the board since 2008, 2011 and 2013, respectively.
Telenor ASA is the No. 1 telecommunications group in Norway. Net sales break down by activity as follows:
- mobile telecommunications services (79.8%): mobile telephone communications, voice and data transmission, Internet access, messaging, sale of telecommunications equipment, etc.;
- fixed-line telecommunications services (18%): fixed-line telephone communications, data transmission, TV channel broadcasting, etc.;
- other (2.2%): offshore telecommunications, interconnection between operators, etc.
Net sales are geographically distributed as follows: Norway (26.1%), Thailand (22.3%), Bangladesh (15.6%), Sweden (12.9%), Finland (10%), Denmark (5.6%), Pakistan (4.9%) and other (2.6%).
