MIRAMAR, Fla. (AP) _ Spirit Airlines Inc. (SAVE) on Tuesday reported a loss of $52.4 million in its second quarter.
On a per-share basis, the Miramar, Florida-based company said it had a loss of 48 cents. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 30 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 34 cents per share.
The airline posted revenue of $1.37 billion in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.35 billion.
