Sacyr Water awarded operation of lot 2 of the Bilbao Bizkaia Water Consortium's sewerage systems
  • The contract, worth 6 million euros over three years, will provide services to a population of over 75,000 residents.
  • The service equipment will be electrical and hybrid.

The Bilbao Bizkaia Water Consortium (CABB) has awarded Sacyr Water with the operation and maintenance of lot 2 of the sewerage systems at the facilities in the vicinity of Mungia, Gorliz, Larrabetzu, Lemoiz, Bakio, Unbe 1, Aresti y Artebakarra for a 3 year period, which can be increased by a further two years, at a cost of 6.2 million euros.

Under this contract, Sacyr Water will be providing service to more than 75,000 residents and will handle an annual volume of 8 million cubic meters.

In line with the consortium's environmentally sustainable model and Sacyr Water's commitment to the SDGs and sustainable cities, the subsidiary will include in its services the use of vehicles that are 100% electric or hybrid.

The service priorities for Sacyr Water will be the preservation of natural and environmental resources, and workplace health and safety in all processes and innovation.

Overall, Sacyr Water treats the waste water of a population of some 1.1 million people with management of 104 treatment plants which handle 300 million cubic meters per day.

Sacyr Water carries out the management of the complete water cycle and operates and maintains more than 13,000 km of supply networks and more than 108,000 drains and manholes in six countries, in which it supplies 10 million inhabitants.
