On behalf a European customer country, Rheinmetall has been commissioned to supply a three-digit number of L52 gun barrel systems for the Panzerhaubitze 2000 (PzH 2000) self-propelled howitzer. The gun barrels will be delivered in the period 2024-2029. The delivery is part of a massive growth programme in barrel and weapons production that Rheinmetall is currently implementing in order to meet the increased demand in the future.

This new order once again underlines Rheinmetall's leading technological position in the field of gun barrels in Europe. Rheinmetall is a world leader in gun barrels and the associated ammunition technology - including, for example, the 120mm smoothbore gun for main battle tanks. Many user nations around the world place their trust in Rheinmetall's weapons technology.

The PzH 2000, a weapon system developed in the 1980s and 90s and continuously modernized since then, is known for its outstanding long-range firepower. It achieves a rate of fire of ten rounds per minute and, depending on the ammunition and propellant used, a range of between 30 and 40 kilometres with conventional ammunition and 67 kilometres with range-enhanced ammunition.
