LoRa technology enables objects to be monitored and operated remotely
The LoRa™ Alliance has been launched at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. This Alliance guarantees interoperability between telecom operators and standardization of Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWANs) which are being deployed around the world to enable Internet of Things (IoT), machine-to-machine (M2M), and "smart city" and industry-specific applications.
telecom operators that will roll out the technology: Proximus, Bouygues Telecom, KPN, SingTel, Swisscom and Fastnet, part of South Africa Telecom.
The LoRa Alliance welcomes new members and is also open to application providers.
The LoRa (Long Range) radio technology enables sensors to be monitored and operated remotely. It is ideal for operating battery-powered sensors and complements wireless M2M connectivity. A LoRa network enables a whole range of applications within the Internet of Things.
The development of the "Internet of Things", in which billions of objects and devices are connected to the Internet, is in full swing. Proximus wants to play an active role in this. As the company puts the customer at the heart of its strategy, Proximus wants to focus even more on offering customers comprehensive solutions such as in the field of the "Internet of Things". It will raise the efficiency and productivity of companies and have a positive impact on the daily lives of people and society in general (remote monitoring of patients, monitoring and management of energy consumption, monitoring of stocks, "smart cities", etc.).
