Mersen announced yesterday that it has been selected by Automotive Cells Company (ACC), a joint venture between Stellantis, TotalEnergies/Saft and Mercedes-Benz, to supply smart laminated interconnect bars (a key technical component) for its new generation of durable and efficient batteries for the European electric vehicle market.

The interconnect bars will be manufactured at Mersen's Saint-Bonnet-de-Mure plant (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes), and delivered to ACC's Gigafactory in Billy-Berclau / Douvrin (Hauts-de-France).

Mersen plans to invest between 15 and 20 million euros to equip itself with high-performance automated lines in line with customer demand, and to develop its strategic partnership with ACC.

According to Mersen, the contract covers a seven-year period and could represent sales of around 200 million euros.
