HOCHTIEF to build and operate new University of Applied Sciences for Police and Public Administration in Herne

Sustainable construction with DGNB Gold certification

HOCHTIEF has been awarded the contract to build a new central location for the NRW University of Applied Sciences for Police and Public Administration (HSPV) in Herne for the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). HOCHTIEF will rent the university campus to HSPV and deliver operational services for an initial 20 years after completion which is scheduled for winter semester 2027. Planning and construction will be performed by the Building NRW branch of HOCHTIEF Infrastructure.

The university campus includes, among others, construction of lecture halls, the administration building, the refectory, the library, multi-purpose rooms and 1,200 parking spaces. On an area of around 32,000 square meters the facilities will cater for over 5,000 students.

"HOCHTIEF has optimally fulfilled the requirements of HSPV and integrated them into its own design. Through its functional and future-oriented approach, the design offers the best prerequisites for research and teaching," said Martin Bornträger, President of the North Rhine-Westphalia state University of Applied Sciences for Police and Public Administration.

The new university campus consists of three buildings, all of which are accessible via a shared square that forms the center of the campus and is meant to contribute to a culture of togetherness. Responsible for the design is the architectural office Auer Weber in cooperation with Rainer Schmidt Landschaftsarchitekten + Stadtplaner.
