General Motors Korea plans to launch the second-generation Chevrolet Volt hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) in South Korea on 1 February, 2017. The vehicle's powertrain features a 18.3 kWh battery and 1.5-litre gasoline (petrol) engine. GM Korea claims that the new Volt has an extended driving range of 676 km. It can travel 89 km on a single charge, while its gasoline engine will extend the driving range by an additional 587 km. The vehicle is priced at KRW 38 million (USD 32,303.9). However, the KRW 5 million government subsidy and other tax incentives for eco-friendly vehicle will lower its price to KRW 31.6 million.
