Endesa announced its plans to build an electricity substation in the municipality of Cabra, Andalusia region. Under the project, the company plans to start using the substation servicing Cabra currently, just for the supply of the Lucena municipality, given the high demand of its industrial and residential zones. Endesa and the Lucena municipality are still negotiating the construction of the substation, with the local authorities planning to provide part of the investment.

The initial plans included the construction of a new substation in Lucena, but the EUR 7 million (USD 9.515 million) investment was cancelled, due to the suspension of residential projects because of the financial crisis.
