On Wednesday evening, Costco Wholesale reported sales of $19.8 billion for the month of April (four weeks ended May 5), up 7.1% on the same period last year.

On a like-for-like basis, and excluding the impact of variations in gasoline prices and exchange rates, sales rose by 5.5%, with increases of 5.2% in the United States, 5.9% in Canada and 7% in other countries.

The warehouse-store chain points out, however, that April 2024 was negatively affected, by just over 0.5% on total and comparable sales, by the Easter calendar change.
