Spanish bank Bankinter said Thursday that its second-quarter net profit rose 17% from the same period in 2023 thanks to an increase in loan income.

The country's fifth-largest bank by market value posted a net profit of 273 million euros ($298.50 million) in the April-June period, up from 233 million euros a year ago.

Analysts consulted by Reuters had expected a net profit of 269 million euros.
