PARIS (Reuters) - The main European stock markets were up on Monday morning, opening the New Year on a positive note after a turbulent 2022.

In Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.78% to 6,523.99 points around 08:10 GMT. In Frankfurt, the Dax advanced by 0.57%.

The London Stock Exchange will remain closed on Monday, as will markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong and the USA.

Initiatives are therefore likely to be limited, but investors will nonetheless be keeping an eye on the PMI activity indicators expected in the morning for the eurozone manufacturing sector.

On the value side, Atos soared by more than 9% following reports in the daily Les Echos that Airbus (+0.9%) is considering taking a minority stake in Evidian, the digital and cybersecurity business that the IT services group is going to spin off.
