The Group announces the signature of a contract to support the decarbonization of the ArcelorMittal site in Dunkirk.

Bruno Le Maire, French Minister of the Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, today visited the ArcelorMittal site in Dunkirk to confirm the French government's support for the decarbonization project at this major French steelworks.

The 50 highest-emitting industrial sites alone account for 55% of industrial emissions and 12% of total national emissions.

In total, the commitments made by the 50 sites correspond to a 45% reduction in their emissions between 2015 and 2030.

ArcelorMittal's Dunkirk site emits around 12 MtCO2/year, or 15% of national industrial emissions. Thanks to government support, investment in decarbonizing steel production at ArcelorMittal's Dunkirk site will reach 1.8 billion euros.

Ultimately, 4 million tonnes of green steel will be produced annually by the Dunkirk site (out of a total production of 6.8Mt/year) and an annual reduction in CO2 emissions of 4.4Mt on average over the first fifteen years of the project, i.e. 5.7% of total national industrial emissions.
