Coal resources and coal reservesWhitehaven Coal Limited has updated its managed Coal Resources and Coal Reserves under the JORC Code 2012 as set out in the following tables. Total Coal Resources have increased by 182Mt (4.7%) from 3855Mt in August 2014 to 4037Mt in August
2015.
Coal Reserves decreased slightly to 874Mt and Marketable Reserves for the Whitehaven Group decreased by 12Mt to 789Mt from the August 2014 Coal Resources and Reserves Statement.
The key changes from the previous (August 2014) Coal Resources and Coal Reserves statement are as follows:-
Overall open cut Coal Resources remain steady at Vickery, however the resource categories were upgraded due to a revised geological model and detailed appraisal of historical drilling information;
Underground Coal Resources at the Vickery Project have increased by 201Mt due to the granting of EL8224 and the inclusion of results from drilling conducted during 2014;
The reduction in Coal Reserves at Narrabri, Maules Creek, Tarrawonga, Rocglen and Werris Creek were due to mining depletion since the last statement in August 2014.
Coal Resources and Reserves for active mining areas are as at the 31st of March 2015. Production for the quarter ended 30
June 2015 is detailed in the June 2015 Quarterly Report. Please see the Whitehaven Coal website
(www.whitehavencoal.com.au) for all the Coal Resource and Coal Reserve Table 1 details.
