Sony PlayStation® users who may want to take a break from their video games will soon be able to do so in the form of adorable puppies and kittens.
Yes, you read that right. Earlier today, Discovery Communicationsannounced a new distribution agreement that will make Animal Planet L!VE and 17 other Discovery Communications networks and services available on Sony Network Entertainment International's PlayStation™Vue, a cloud-based TV service that provides television access to viewers without the need for a cable subscription. Joining Animal Planet L!VE are Discovery Communications' 13 U.S. networks, including:
- Discovery Channel
- TLC
- Animal Planet
- Investigation Discovery
- Science
- OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network
- Discovery Family
- American Heroes Channel
- Discovery Fit & Health (to become Discovery Life on January 15, 2015)
- Velocity
- Destination America
- Discovery en Español
- Discovery Familia
PlayStation™Vue viewers will also be able to enjoy web-native entertainment from Discovery Digital Networks, including:
- TestTube
- SourceFed
- Revision3
- Animalist
Thankfully those eager to try the new TV service won't have to wait too long: an invite-only beta will begin this month before the service rolls out commercially during the first quarter of 2015. With over 35 million Internet-enabled PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®3 devices in homes around the U.S., Discovery Communications is thrilled to provide more access than ever to the 2,5000 hours of unparalleled content it produces annually.
