Vinacontrol : Accompanying the development of Vietnam's organic agriculture

Organic agriculture is a growing trend in the wecorld bause of the consumers' health and environmental sustainability.

On June 7, 2022, Vinacontrol cooperated with the Center for Organic Agriculture (Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association) and the People's Committee of Vu Quang district - Ha Tinh province to organize a training conference on organic agricultural production on orange and citrus fruit trees for officials and the gardener in that area. The conference is held in the form of online to 10 communes and towns. The training session aims to help related departments and gardeners have more knowledge about growing oranges and citrus fruits according to organic processes, towards a sustainable agriculture, bringing high economic value.

According to the Vu Quang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the whole district currently has nearly 3,400 hectares of fruit trees; in which, with orange trees more than 2,600 ha. The growth of fruit tree areas according to organic processes will improve product quality, stabilize output, and increase people's income.

At the conference, experts from Vinacontrol and the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association communicated, exchanged, and guided officials from relevant departments and gardeners in the Vu Quang area to better understand the benefits of organic farming. Accordingly, organic production of oranges and fruit trees will help the land retain its fertility, not destroy beneficial organisms, balance the agricultural ecosystem, and control plant pests. Therefore, plants grow and develop better. In particular, the organic process (does not use chemical fertilizers, preservatives, and pesticides) will create quality products which are safe for consumers, and bringing high economic efficiency.

In the presentation, Mr. Le Van Hau - Head of Development Department Service (Vinacontrol Ho Chi Minh) introduced an overview of the current situation of organic agriculture development in Vietnam and the benefits brought to the parties when the product is certified. Moreover, he raised some outstanding issues and the process of evaluating and certifying organic agricultural products.
