Veidekke has today entered into an agreement with Skien municipality to expand Lyngbakken housing and treatment centre.

The assignment is a turnkey contract with a contract sum of NOK 270 million excl. VAT.

It is very gratifying that together through the development phase we have arrived at functions, solutions and qualities that enable Skien municipality to enter into a final contract with us and thus start construction. All involved parties have made important contributions here, and we now look forward to continuing the good cooperation from the development phase into the construction phase, says district manager Lars N. Hjertas in Veidekke Bygg Vestfold and Telemark.

Lyngbakken living and treatment center will have doubled the number of resident rooms after the expansion from 64 to 128. The new building will have a total of approximately 6,500 m 2 and will be built on two floors with a basement under parts of the building. The development takes place up to the existing housing and treatment centre, which will be in full operation during the construction period.

This will be a sustainable project where the support system in low-carbon concrete class extreme and in class A, energy-efficient technical facilities and energy source from a local wood-burning plant together provide at least a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to the reference building. The building is delivered in energy class A and the construction work is carried out fossil-free.

The concrete and timber work in the project will be carried out by Veidekke's own skilled workers and apprentices, which is important for employment and skills development. We will start fairly immediately with planned completion in December 2025, concludes Hjertas.
