Toyota Motor expects to resume production at all of its plants in Japan after a problem procuring parts took them offline Tuesday.

Some 12 of the car maker's 14 factories in Japan are expected to resume operations from the first shift Wednesday, with the remaining plants expected to restart from the second shift that day, Toyota said.

Toyota had previously suspended production at all of its plants in Japan due to a problem that occurred Monday with its parts-procurement system.

The automaker said late Tuesday that the system malfunction wasn't understood to have been caused by a cyberattack, though it is continuing to investigate.

Last year, Toyota halted operations at all of its plants in Japan in response to a cyberattack that paralyzed operations at one of its suppliers.
