The New York Times Film Club has added new benefits for its 2012 membership year with Time Warner Cable as presenting sponsor. In addition to more movie screenings and special benefits exclusive to New York City and Los Angeles audiences, Time Warner Cable subscribers are eligible for a 20 percent savings on a 2012 New York Times Film Club membership.

"The New York Times Film Club is another extraordinary opportunity for The Times to engage its audience, which is passionately devoted to the arts," said Yasmin Namini, senior vice president, marketing and circulation, and general manager, reader applications, The New York Times Media Group. "We're thrilled to have Time Warner Cable as a presenting sponsor this year."

"Our collaboration with The New York Times Film Club is another great opportunity for our subscribers to enjoy unique entertainment experiences," said Jeffrey A. Hirsch, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Time Warner Cable. "Giving customers access to these screenings is one of the many ways we bring our customers closer to their passions."

New York membership in 2012 includes the opportunity to attend 12 preview screenings, up from six in 2011, from a selection of numerous offerings throughout the year and two red-carpet screenings of digitally restored classics. New York member benefits also include live discussions with film talent, film experts and New York Times journalists. The first New York red-carpet classic offering this year will be "The Color Purple" on Saturday, March 10, and it will mark the first time the movie's digital restoration has ever been viewed on the big screen. Two more red-carpet screenings will be held in New York on Saturday, June 23, and Saturday, October 6. All New York red-carpet screenings of digitally restored classics are held at TheTimesCenter at 242 W. 41st St.

Los Angeles member benefits this year include the opportunity to attend six preview screenings of new films from a selection of year-round offerings and three red-carpet screenings of digitally restored classics, live discussions with film talent, and early notification and 50 percent savings on the monthly Film Independent at LACMA series.

Warner Bros. Motion Picture Imaging, which operates one of the foremost state-of-the-art film restoration operations, provides digitally restored classic films from motion picture libraries across the entertainment industry for the Film Club's red-carpet screenings.

"Our top priorities have always been our films and our audience. Our partnership with The New York Times Film Club provides us with a unique opportunity to integrate the two by reaching out to a group of passionate cinephiles," said Chuck Dages, executive vice president, emerging technology, Warner Bros. "We are excited to present this year's slate of esteemed film restorations to both new and returning New York Times Film Club members."
