Thales announces that the EU has selected the Nostradamus consortium to prepare Europe for the quantum world.
The Nostradamus consortium, led by Deutsche Telekom alongside Thales and AIT (Austrian Institute of Technology), will be responsible for building the EU's quantum communications test infrastructure.
This contract paves the way for the implementation of EuroQCI - a hyper-secure pan-European communications network based on quantum technology. Public authorities and citizens of EU member states will benefit from a new, more secure critical infrastructure.
The ultimate goal is to develop the European Quantum Communication Infrastructure (EuroQCI).
This infrastructure aims to enhance the security of data centers, communication networks and critical infrastructures such as hospitals and power plants - via optical fiber and satellite.
The use of quantum technologies is a key pillar of the EU's cybersecurity strategy for the coming decades.
