Tesco PLC on Tuesday said it has bought stationery chain Paperchase's brand and intellectual property for an undisclosed sum.

"Paperchase is a well-loved brand by so many, and we're proud to bring it to Tesco stores across the UK," said Jan Marchant, Tesco's Home and Clothing managing director said.

"We have been building out plans to bring more brands and inspiration to the ranges we currently offer, and this will help us to take those plans further," he said.

Earlier on Tuesday, Sky News reported that the grocer was in talks to buy Paperchase's name and IP through a prepack administration but was unlikely to be interested in its stores.
