TESCO announced that the company is cutting 800 jobs in a shakeup of junior management roles as it attempts to boost profits and improve efficiency at its large stores and warehouses. It was abolishing 1,700 in-store people manager, compliance manager and customer experience manager roles and replacing them with 900 new managers, most of whom will work across multiple shops. Tesco previously cut thousands of jobs in the wake of its 2014 accounting scandal, which led to a record £6.4 billion annual loss and years of stagnant revenues. Last year it axed 1,200 jobs in its head office, 1,100 in its call centres and 1,000 logistics roles.
