More than one thousand of NATO soldiers who will arrive to Lithuania will use the fastest and widest in the country 4G connectivity of fibre optic internet provided by Omnitel and Teo. On order of Airbus Defence and Space responsible for the provision of NATO troops, buildings in Rukla Polygon, where intensive works of development of the military campus infrastructure are under way now, will be connected by the newly installed fibre optic cable of Teo.

This year, the military campus of Rukla will host NATO soldiers from Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Norway and other countries. To ensure quality internet access for the arriving soldiers, Teo and Omnitel will provide the military campus of Rukla with stable and state of the artfibre optic internet connections and unlimited 4G mobile internet with up to 100 Mb/s download speed.

To ensure smooth connection, Teo will install a new almost 1.5 km total length fibre optic cable, which will connect separate buildings in Rukla polygon.

Most recent data show that in 2016, the amount of 4G data used by customers of Omnitel was the largest in the entire history of technological development in Lithuania. During the year, the number of active users of 4G augmented by 42% to 280 000, and the average amount of data used in 4G network per month increased almost by one fifth to 6.06 GB in Omnitel network. At present, the amount of 4G data transmitted in Omnitel network accounts for more than 77 % of the entire mobile data traffic.

In 2016, more than 600 new 4G base stations were constructed in the territory of Lithuania. According to the data of CRS, 4G network coverage of Omnitel reached 99% of the territory. At the country level, now about 70% of residents can use Teo's fibre optic internet.

Since 2007, Teo has invested more than EUR 160 million into the development fibre optic internet. Starting from 1998, investments of Teo total almost EUR 1.1 billion, and of Omnitel - more than EUR 550 million.
