TDK Corporation (TSE:6762, President & CEO: Shigenao Ishiguro) is pleased to announce that it has been selected as a winning company in the Corporate Governance of the Year® 2018 Prize, offered by the Japan Association of Corporate Directors (hereinafter 'JACD,' Chairman: Yoshihiko Miyauchi).

The awards go to the companies which have achieved and maintained long term profitability by implementing good corporate governance with the ultimate goal of revitalizing the Japanese economy, since 2015.

TDK was selected in recognition of its efforts as a company that maintains an awareness of corporate governance in its management activities, and achieves sound growth in the medium to long-term while at the same time implementing various reforms.

Specifically, in addition to focusing on business performance indicators such as ROE, ROA and market capitalization, TDK's efforts in developing its governance system including issues that TDK has worked for many years such as separation of the Chairman of the Board of Directors from executive functions, ratio of independent directors, and voluntary establishment of the nomination advisory committee and the compensation advisory committee.
