Royal Dutch Shell plc (LSE:RDSA) agreed to unknown stake in Peru LNG Company L.L.C., 20% in Atlantic LNG from Atlantic 2/3 Holdings, LLC and Repsol Exploracion Peru SA for $6.7 billion on February 26, 2013. The deal also includes a gas-fueled power plant in Spain. Shell will pay $4.4 billion in cash and assume $2.3 billion in financial leases and debt for a package of assets that would exclude a Canadian LNG import terminal. Repsol and Shell have also agreed a 10 year LNG supply contract to the Canaport regasification terminal, which remains within the Repsol Group. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and other conditions precedent and is expected to close by the end of the year 2013 or early 2014. The funds obtained from the sale of the LNG assets will allow Repsol to boost its upstream organic growth strategy. As on April 26, 2013, the transaction has been approved by CADE. As on June 19, 2013, Repsol expects to receive the green light from the European Commission for the transaction on July 5, 2013. On July 2, 2013, the transaction was approved by the European Commission. As of October 11, 2013, BP plc (LSE:BP.) acquired 25% stake in Bahia de Bizkaia Electricidad S.L. from Repsol, S.A. Royal Dutch will continue with rest of the acquisitions as part of the deal.
