Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. announced NX300, its mirror less digital camera and NX 45mm F1.8 2D/3D interchangeable lens. The NX 45mm F1.8 2D/3D will enable to switch between 2D and 3D shooting with one lens unit for taking still pictures and full-HD movies for the first time in the world.

But Samsung has not yet disclosed its mechanism. Other 3D-compatible interchangeable lenses use two lens units like Panasonic Corp.'s Lumix G 12.5mm/F12. The maximum shutter speed of the camera is 1/6,000 second, which is the same as the shutter speed of Nikon Corp.'s mirrorless camera.

Its continuous shooting speed is nice frames per second. Because Samsung announced that it used the Hybrid Auto Focus (AF) system to increase autofocus speed, the company probably used both a contrast method and a phase contrast method using imaging devices. The image processor of the camera is the DRIMe IV imaging engine, which was developed by Samsung.

Furthermore, the camera enables to easily upload taken pictures to, for example, websites by using a wireless LAN module embedded in the camera and application software available for smartphones and tablet computers. The application functions as a remote viewfinder at the time of taking images.
