Salon Media Group Inc. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended June 30, 2016. For the quarter, the company reported net revenues of $1,296,000 compared to $1,694,000 a year ago. The decrease in revenue was a result of a continued significant industry shift in online advertising from advertising sold by a direct sales team to advertising increasingly being sold through software-based “programmatic” technology. Loss from operations was $838,000 compared to $634,000 a year ago. Net loss was $849,000 or $0.01 per basic and diluted share compared to $644,000 or $0.01 per basic and diluted share a year ago.
